Chris Carpenter moved his record to 8-2 in the playoffs with his 6 inning, 2 ER performance last night. Once again, TLR made all the right moves for the final 3 innings of the bullpen. I screamed at the TV once Scrabble was left in the game to face two righties, but the move worked, and once again, TLR can do no wrong. The Cards are now clearly in the driver’s seat, just needing to play .500 baseball to give the Cards their 11th World Series Championship.
Moving on to game 2, I’m really hoping that Jaime Garcia can pitch well. In 3 games started in his first postseason, Garcia is 0-2 in 3 GS with a 5.74 ERA. It would be a huge relief being up 2 games to none and having to only take 1 in Texas. The Cards will face off against Colby Lewis, who is 4-1 in six career postseason GS with a 2.37 ERA. The good news for the Cards is that Colby is right handed, the only right handed starter the Cards will face against Texas, and it lets Rafael Furcal and Lance Berkman bat from the left side. Advantage Cardinals IMO.
For all you superstitious types, you can see that the rally squirrel was out in full force during Adrian Beltre’s confrontational last at bat last night in the pic above, and he brought a few friends.
