The Cardinals trade Blake Hawksworth to Dodgers for Ryan Theriot

The Cardinals traded Blake Hawksworth to the Los Angeles Dodgers today for Ryan Theriot.  While I’m not sure Theriot is much of an upgrade overall over Brendan Ryan, he has been rather consistent with the bat in his career.  Theriot has a 162 game average of a .284 BA, .348 OBP, 4 HR, 44 RBI, 25 SB’s, and an OPS of .704.  Last year, Theriot had a WAR of o.0 combined with the Cubs and Dodgers per FanGraphs, but put up a 3.1 on 2008 and a 2.3 in 2009.  I’ll do a more thorough comparison of Theriot against Ryan later.
